Women’s Water Polo Earns Easy Victories Against Bowdoin, Bates
The MIT women’s water polo team (7-0) earned two easy victories over Bowdoin College and Bates College by scores of 14-1 and 15-2, respectively, this Sunday at Bowdoin College in Brunswick, Maine. Analiese M. DiConti ’10 led the Engineers with nine goals, scoring over half of her goals in the first quarter to give the team early leads in both matches.
Women’s Tennis Dominates Caltech On Spring Break Trip to California
The women’s tennis team traveled to Pasadena, CA over spring break last week for the opportunity to train, bond, and compete. On Monday, they faced rival Caltech, whom they dominated, 9-0.
Sophia Harrison Wins National Championship on Uneven Bars
Behind a school-tying mark of 9.75, Sophia L. Harrison ’08 captured the uneven bar title at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association National Championship held this past weekend at State University of New York at Cortland. In addition to a trio of All-America honors, Harrison was the recipient of the NCGA Outstanding Senior Award, the highest recognition within the organization.
GAME OF THE WEEK Baseball Rallies in Eleventh Inning, Splits Doubleheader Against Babson
David M. Nole ’09 supplied MIT with its second walk-off hit in as many days as the Engineers rallied to defeat Babson College, 13-12, in 13 innings, to complete a wild nightcap of a baseball doubleheader on March 22. In the opening game, Babson was dominant in a 10-1 victory over the Engineers.

Coblenz Seventh in Individual Competition As Gymnastics Places Fourth at Nationals
The MIT men’s gymnastics team kicked off its postseason push with a fifth-place finish at the USA Gymnastics National Championship held this past weekend at Springfield College. Joshua S. Coblenz ’08, the Engineers’ lone representative in the individual competition, claimed seventh in the still rings with a score of 13.400.
Pistol Team Finishes in Fourth at NRA Intercollegiate Championship
The MIT pistol team closed its season with a fourth-place finish at the National Rifle Association Intercollegiate Championship held the week of March 9. The team collected seven All-American awards, led by Edward S. Huo ’08, who ranked fifth overall and earned All-America First-Team honors in free pistol, standard pistol, and air pistol. Fuzhou Hu ’09 received air pistol Second-Team and free pistol Honorable Mention honors. Daniel Jang ’10 and Christine T. Hsueh ’10 earned Second-Team awards in free and air pistol, respectively.

The women’s water polo team took sole control of first place in the North Atlantic Division on March 13 with a 10-8 win over Boston College at the Zesiger Center Pool. Blair K. Brettmann G and Analiese M. DiConti ’10 had three goals each to give the Engineers an early lead. The team held off Boston College’s late attempts in the final minutes of the game.
Brophy, Jacobi Swim at Nationals As Holbrook Captures Third Place
The Engineers put the finishing touches on their third consecutive top 20 finish at the NCAA Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday, while senior Doria M. Holbrook ’08 closed her career as the top diver in Institute history. Holbrook won her eighth All-America honor in as many tries.

Sophia L. Harrison ’08 was named the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Co-Gymnast of the Year on Saturday as MIT placed fifth at the ECAC Championships. In addition, Harrison captured the all-around crown in the competition with a personal best of 38.275. She placed first in uneven bars with a 9.625, and took third on floor with a 9.675
MIT Volleyball Takes Down Rival Harvard During Senior Night
Senior night ended in triumph for the men’s volleyball team, as the Engineers defeated Harvard University for the first time since 1999 in front of an energized Rockwell Cage on Wednesday night. After dropping the first game, MIT came back to defeat its rivals from down the river, 22-30, 30-26, 30-28, and 30-27.
Harrison Leads Women’s Gymnastics To Highest Team Score in Four Years
The women’s gymnastics team posted its highest team score in four years and the third-best total in the program’s history with a total of 185.025 points to place fifth at the Eastern College Athletic Conference championships hosted by Springfield College on Saturday. Ursinus College was the crowned the champion with an overall mark of 187.675, followed by State University of New York at Brockport (187.175), State University of New York at Cortland (186.75), and the host Pride (185.875).
MIT Figure Skating Club Holds Annual Exhibition Featuring Local, Club Skaters
The MIT Figure Skating Club held its annual exhibition last Saturday, with twelve guest programs and twenty-seven club skaters participating. The show was coordinated by Trish Fleming of the MIT Enterprise Forum, Saja A. Fakhraldeen ’09, and group lesson instructor Susan Alpert. Esther Horwich ’77 was the show’s emcee and Wellesley College alumna Amy Mossman produced the show.
MATCH OF THE WEEK Men’s Volleyball Defeats Division Rival Rivier in Strong Comeback
Victories over Baruch College and nationally-ranked No. 11 Rivier College helped the No. 13 MIT men’s volleyball team surpass the 20-win mark for the fourth year in a row as its record improved to 21-10. The Engineers held off Baruch (32-30, 30-25, 30-27) and then outlasted Rivier (23-30, 27-30, 31-29, 30-13, 15-13) to reach the milestone. Earlier, Rivier topped Baruch, 36-34, 30-24, 28-30, 30-19.
