Taekwondo seizes second place in conference
Despite fighting with historically small numbers, the MIT Taekwondo team advanced against East Coast powerhouse teams such as West Point and Tufts to take second place in Division I of the Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference.

Basketball sees success this week
Men’s basketball (3-2) defeated UMass Boston 84-61. Samuel Bockman ’19 led the Engineers with 23 points and 6 assists.

MIT Football played two games in the month of November. They earned a win against Curry College 26-21, and took a tough double-overtime 36-35 loss to Nichols College. The Engineers rode on an offensive outburst from running back John Robertson ’20, who ran for a total of 328 yards with six touchdowns in his two November games. He closed out his stellar rookie season by recording four consecutive games in which he rushed for at least 100 yards. He ended the season with a total of 920 yards and 11 touchdowns, earned the NEFC Offensive Rookie of the Week honors twice, NEFC Offensive Player of the Week honors once, and was one of the seven Engineers to make an appearance on an NEFC All-Conference Team as MIT Football finished the season with a 3-7 overall record.
A look back at women’s volleyball’s banner season
MIT women’s volleyball team capped a dominant season in which it posted a perfect 10-0 record in conference play with a New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship victory. This was the fifth time in program history that the Engineers clinched the championship and the first since 2012.
Strong showing by women’s and men’s cross country teams at national championship
Women’s cross country finished fifth overall at the NCAA division III cross country championship. Megan McCandless ’20 led the Engineers with a 17th place finish out of 280 participants.
Co-ed sailing captures 43rd annual Atlantic Coast Championship
MIT’s co-ed sailing team won the Atlantic Coast Championship for the first time in the program’s history. Ty Ingram ’18 skippered for the Engineers’ A fleet with Sameena Shaffeeullah ’19 as his crew, while Trevor Long ’19 skippered for the B fleet with Paige Omura ’17. The regatta spanned the course of two days with a total of 18 races.

Coed sailing won the Atlantic Coast championship for the first time in program history. Ty Ingram ’18 and Sameena Shaffeeullah ’19 placed second in division A while Paige Omura ’17 and Trevor Long ’19 clinched top spot in division B.
Forwards headline record-breaking season for women’s soccer
The MIT women’s soccer team closed out a record-breaking season with 1-0 loss to Middlebury College in the first round of the NCAA playoffs. The Engineers recorded a program-high 17 victories this season, scoring in all but the first and last games of the season. MIT finished runners-up in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) tournament after tying for first place in the regular season.
Women’s and men’s cross country teams win regional championships
Both the MIT men’s and women’s cross country teams won the New England Regional Championship at Westfield State University on Saturday, earning automatic bids to the Division III Cross Country Championships this Saturday in Louisville, Kentucky.

Megan McCandless ’20 has made a tremendous start to her career as a student-athlete at MIT. She led a group of five Engineers who swept the top five positions in the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) cross country championship, earning her both the NEWMAC rookie and runner of the year accolades.
Women’s volleyball wins NEWMAC championship
This past weekend, MIT’s women’s volleyball team won the NEWMAC championship for the fifth time in program history. As the top seed, the Engineers played both the semifinal and the championship games at home and were able to beat Babson College and Clark University to claim the title. Both games finished 3-1 and MIT truly displayed the dominance they’ve sustained all season long. They will look to continue their success going into the NCAA tournament.
Field hockey narrowly loses NEWMAC championship final
The MIT field hockey team ended it’s exciting run at the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship this Sunday with a 1-0 loss against Babson College. MIT defeated Springfield College last Tuesday with a score of 4-2 to advance to a semifinal game against Smith College on Saturday.

After falling to Williams College in the NCAA Regional Finals in the 2015-2016 season, MIT rebounded this season by revisiting the NEWMAC Championship games to face Wellesley and win the championship.
