Softball falls 15-1, 15-2 in sweep by Wheaton
Wheaton College jumped out to a pair of early leads during a doubleheader sweep of MIT softball on Sunday afternoon. The Lyons outscored the Engineers 30-3 in the two games, which were the final home contests of the 2010 campaign for the Engineers, who fell to 7-17 (3-11 NEWMAC).
Maybe the Red Sox will win the wild card? As much as we may despise them, Yankees are still the team to beat in the A.L. East

COLUMN Two winners in March Madness
This March has seen one of the most exciting NCAA tournaments in recent history, and the championship game was no exception — it was a true nail-biter, keeping fans and spectators on the edge of their seats. In the end, however, midnight struck for the Cinderella Butler Bulldogs, as they were edged by Duke 61-59 Monday evening. The victory gives Duke its fourth national championship, all four of which have come under coach Mike Krzyzewski.
Pistol takes silver in 2 events at NRA Pistol Championship
The MIT pistol team, stripped of its varsity status in last year’s sports cuts, performed well at the 30th annual NRA Intercollegiate Pistol Championships at Fort Benning, Georgia, held March 16–20, in its first year as a club team. Several individuals won honors, and both the women’s team and the open team came in fourth place in their team aggregates. The open team took silver in the free pistol event and the women’s team took silver in the women’s air pistol event.

ATHLETES’ CORNER
The nationally-ranked No. 6 men’s volleyball team swept Wentworth Institute of Technology, 30-20, 30-25, 30-20, on Saturday. The Engineers, who will be making their sixth consecutive trip to the NECVA Championship Tournament, improved to 29-7 overall and 14-2 in league action. MIT finished the regular season winning 15 of their final 16 matches, and their 29 wins sets the program record for wins in a season.

So…I was wrong. As you can see on page 15 in issue 13, my bracket was garbage, and I am here to admit it. Yes, sports fans, garbage.
Wrestling wins first national title in MIT history
Ten months after the varsity program was cut, the wrestling team won the 2010 National Collegiate Wrestling Association Division II National Championship on Saturday, March 13th in Hampton, VA. The Engineers scored 64.5 points as a team for a 7th overall finish with only five point-scoring wrestlers out of a possible eleven. Four MIT wrestlers earned All-American honors: co-captain Grant M. Kadokura ’11 became MIT’s first national champion at 125 lbs, while co-captain Joseph B. Silverman ’10 took second place at 197 lbs, Ryan J. Madson ‘13 placed fourth at 165 lbs, and Lucas C. Schiefelbein ‘13 placed seventh at 174 lbs. Graduate student Elena L. Glassman G represented MIT in the women’s division and took second place at 130 lbs.
ATHLETES’ CORNER Track athletes win, set records at Washington and Lee Spring Carnival Women’s lightweight four beats Princeton by seven seconds Men’s heavy eight races past Boston College in first scrimmage of 2010
The men’s and women’s Track teams traveled down to Virginia to compete in the Washington and Lee Spring Carnival. Carnival turned out to be an aptly chosen word, as the atmosphere was rounded out with nonstop jams featuring The Great Miley Cyrus, among other legends.

MIT curling team sweeps its way to second regional title
Curling? That’s right. That Olympic sport where people slide rocks on ice and sweep like madmen has arrived at MIT. In fact, MIT students have been curling for the almost three years, since the curling club was approved by the ASA.

Grant M. Kadokura ’11 won the 125 lb. National Collegiate Wrestling Association championship on March 13, the first national title in wrestling in Institute history. He defeated Frankie Miller from the University of Georgia.
Taekwondo wins honors
The MIT Sport Taekwondo Club, coached by Dan Chuang and led by captains Jason J. Uh ’10 and ZheChen “Mary” Hong ’10, took home first place honors on Sunday, March 7 in the first Eastern Collegiate Taekwondo Conference tournament since November, held at the United States Military Academy at West Point. The tournament had originally been scheduled for February 27, but was postponed due to inclement weather. Despite this, MIT fielded a strong team of 48 competitors and came out on top.
