Six Teams Compete in Second MIT Cricket Club Tournament

Even though cricket is played or followed by more than a billion people all over the world, Boston has not seen much of it. Thanks to the MIT Cricket Club, which organized its second cricket tournament at MIT from March 14 to March 29, MIT became center stage for some exciting rounds of cricket. The tournament was the club’s first ever indoor tournament, with matches held in the Johnson Athletic Center. It was sponsored by the Students Activities Office, the Office of the Dean for Graduate Education, and the International Students Organization.

MIT Equestrian Team Revived, Begins Training for Competition

At MIT, horseback riding is a sport that has vacillated between being active and successful one year, and being completely nonexistent the next. This year, Anna S. Jaffe ’09, President and Show Captain, and her team members, have undertaken the task of restarting the team. The group has again started getting together, training and competing at horse shows with the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association (IHSA).

Boston Area Teams Play in the First MIT Cricket Tournament

A group of students was passionate about their favorite sport; they got together and built a club around it. But unfortunately, the club died down. A few years later, another group, equally passionate about the sport, revived the club and took it far enough to organize a great tournament: this year, the MIT Cricket Club hosted the first ever cricket tournament at MIT from Aug. 29th to Sept. 14th.
