Field hockey narrowly loses NEWMAC championship final
The MIT field hockey team ended it’s exciting run at the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) championship this Sunday with a 1-0 loss against Babson College. MIT defeated Springfield College last Tuesday with a score of 4-2 to advance to a semifinal game against Smith College on Saturday.

MIT tennis matches wits against Loughborough in Trans-Atlantic Challenge
The MIT tennis team squared up against a team from Loughborough University visiting from England for the second annual Trans-Atlantic Challenge. Although MIT put up a spirited showing and the Loughborough players said they were impressed with the level of play, the MIT men’s and women’s teams were defeated with an overall score of MIT 3-13 Loughborough. While the three days of tennis were an important aspect of the trip, the goal of the Trans-Atlantic Challenge is to explore and develop academic and research collaborations between these two prestigious institutions.
Ultimate caps off busy October with 1st place at tourney
October was a busy month for the MIT women’s ultimate frisbee team as it fielded teams in three different competitions. With an unprecedented addition of over 30 members to the roster this fall, MIT had the luxury of fielding multiple teams in the same tournament, giving its rookies valuable match experience.
