Women’s rugby take second place in Sept. Beantown Classic
This summer was an exciting period for rugby both globally and locally. The sport was announced as an event in the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. The U.S. men's national team had a strong showing in the Churchill Cup, an invitational tournament with England, Canada, and other countries. The U.S. women's national team finished fifth at the Women's Rugby World Cup.
MIT Women’s Rugby Team Wins First Division Game Against Tufts
Rugby season is here once again, and the women from MIT have wasted no time in getting back to work on the pitch. After capturing the Division III championship at the annual Beantown College Tournament, where they blanked all four of their opponents, they were ready for the first test in their new Division. Last Saturday, the Tufts University team visited Briggs field to kick off the season with MIT.

With the gray skies of another New England fall looming over Briggs Field, the Lady Ruggers from MIT defeated Rhode Island College 69-0 on Sunday, Oct. 5.
MIT Women’s Rugby Takes Second Place In Beantown Div. III
The weekend of September 13–14 saw the MIT Women’s Rugby Club doing battle in Amherst at the Beantown Women’s Collegiate Rugby Tournament. On Saturday, MIT defeated Pennsylvania State University’s B Team 14-10 and dominated Cornell University’s B Team 24-0. In the finals on Sunday, Middlebury College topped MIT 12-7.
