Weekend weather goes from warm to wet

This weekend’s weather will alternate between sunshine and showers as a set of disturbances creates an unsettled atmospheric pattern. First, southwesterly flow associated with a low pressure system to our northwest will bring warm air to campus, making for a sunny day with temperatures into the 80s °F. However, a weak cold front will also pass through the area today, possibly kicking off a few showers and thunderstorms along the way.

Sunny skies will return again tomorrow, with south winds again bringing temperatures into the 80s °F. Unfortunately, the possibility of showers will crop up again tomorrow afternoon and evening ahead of a much stronger cold front set to arrive on Sunday morning. This front will likely make for a rain-out on Sunday, with showers and thunderstorms becoming heavy at times.

Finally, sunshine will return on Monday along with cooler temperatures, ushering in a more stable pattern for the week ahead.
