Franco Cimatti ’82, Technical Director of Vehicle Concepts and Predevelopment Manager at Ferrari, was the guest speaker for Inspiring Engineering Seminar Series on Wednesday. During his talk he focused on the unique all-wheel-drive system for the Ferrari FF, which does not use a transfer case to send power to the front wheels. Instead, it uses a small differential connected directly to the crankshaft at the front of the engineer block, and clutches to each of the front wheels to manage torque transfer as needed.
