Cool and rainy weekend before nice weather returns next week
Temperatures this week have been running a bit below average with highs in the mid 50s, as opposed to the usual low 60s this time of year. This will begin to change next week.
Today, most of the rain will clear out by the afternoon, but there could be some lingering showers or drizzle though Friday morning. As our first disturbance moves out, Friday will turn out to be a pretty nice day with temperatures reaching 60°F and minimal clouds. Saturday will feature some scattered rain showers but overall will stay fairly dry. Our next system will be a late season nor’easter that will form off the Carolina coast Saturday night. While it will stay mostly offshore, we will likely get rain from the outer edge of the storm as well as some elevated winds on Sunday morning. As this system moves out Sunday night, high pressure will finally return along with some nicer weather. Early next week will feature sunshine and temperatures in the upper 60s.
Looking further ahead, the month of May is predicted to have below average temperatures with above average precipitation. This continues the general pattern of cold and wet weather that we have seen since December.
