Women’s Track & Field Wins First Ever Indoor NCAA D-III National Championship
Boykin ’25 is a Double Champion in the the shot put and weight throw
On March 20, the MIT Women’s Track & Field team made history by capturing the program’s first-ever Indoor National Championship at the 2025 NCAA Division III Indoor Track & Field Championship in Rochester, New York. The Men’s Track & Field team placed seventh.
The women’s team scored 49 points, setting a program record for highest total score at an indoor national meet and improving upon their previous year’s score of 30 points. The Engineers beat runners-up WashU (45.5) and Wisconsin-La Crosse (37) to claim the title.
MIT’s strong performance was anchored by double champion Alexis Boykin ’25, who won the shot put and weight throw, scoring 20 points for the Engineers. This marks her seventh career individual NCAA title.
The men’s team scored 22 total points, with Jackson Bliey ’26 becoming the national champion in the high jump with a 2.17m performance. Ziyad Hassan ’25 placed third in the mile in 4:06.57 and MIT took third in the Distance Medley Relay Simon Opsahl ’25, Kristian Praizner ’26, Jared Steins ’26, and Tim Neumann ’27.

What’s Next?
Both the Men’s and Women’s Track & Field teams begin their outdoor season later this month. They will travel to NC State University from March 27-29 to compete in the Raleigh Relays in Raleigh, North Carolina.
