White clinches top spot

MIT Gymnastics is gearing up for the national meet at the beginning of April

William White ’17 finished in the top three in each of the six men’s events (floor, pommel horse, rings, vault, parallel bars, high bar), taking the top spot in the floor event en route to clinching first position overall in the 2015 Beaver Classic Gymnastics Meet held at the duPont Gymnasium on Sunday, Feb. 22.

Apart from the hosts, the season’s first home meet saw participation from Boston University, Cambridge Community Gymnastics (CCG), Central Connecticut State University, and Manchester Community College.

Ben Rudolph (CCG) placed first on the pommel horse, rings, and high bars, taking second on the parallel bars. Owen Burek (BU) was the only one to best Rudolph on the parallel bars and emerged second overall.

With the gymnastics season still in its germinal phase the Engineers are gearing up for the national meet slated for early April. Last year, Julia Sharpe ’09, competing in men’s gymnastics, finished 10th in the high bar event.

The next home meet will be the Alumnus Invitational on March 14.
