As if you needed an introduction to this place.

Flour is clearly too popular and well-known as a go-to brunch or coffee date place to be deemed hipster by any means. However, even for those who are regulars, these are a few tidbits of information that even you may not be aware of.

Pro Tip One: it’s worth craning your neck to figure out what the Tartine of the Day is. This special is on the same pillar that houses all of the other daily specials in chalk, and often features one type of delicious jam or another.

Pro Tip Two: if you’re planning on being here for a while, tea is a better investment than coffee. While coffee refills are not free, the staff at Flour will refill your quaint miniature teapot as many times as you care to bother them, no charge. I am personally partial to the English Breakfast Tea.

As a workplace, Flour has its pitfalls. You will never starve while working here, but they don’t have any outlets, and their Wi-Fi is turned off until 2 p.m. Thankfully, this is also when the atmosphere starts to settle down. But until mid-afternoon hits, you may want to save this place for brunch with your BFF, or maybe even to catch up with that friend you haven’t seen since Orientation.

Good for: brunch, quick meet-ups, coffee dates.

Highlights: Roast Lamb Sandwich, Tartine of the Day, their best-selling sticky bun.

Ambiance: lots of light, bustling and chatty during peak hours.
