Tashman named NEWMAC player of the week

After averaging 22.3 points and 16.3 rebounds in three games last week, William Tashman ’13 was named the New England Women’s and Men’s Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week for a third time this season. Tashman, who recorded two double-doubles, helped lead MIT to three wins and a share of the NEWMAC regular season title.

Starting the last week of the regular season against Clark, he matched his previous career best with 26 points and set a new career-high with 20 rebounds, becoming the MIT career leader in that category. He followed that with 13 points and nine rebounds in the Engineers’ upset over No. 5 WPI, giving MIT a share of the regular season title. On Sunday he dominated against Wheelock, dropping in a career-high 28 points on 13-of-15 shooting, and pulling down 19 rebounds. His offensive rebound in the second half was the 1,000th of his career, making him the first player in MIT history with 1,000 points and 1,000 rebounds.
