Disability sensitivity for Chen Guangcheng

I am appalled by the decision of The Tech to reprint a cartoon that makes inappropriate jokes about people with vision-related disabilities on page 6 of the May 8, 2012 issue. The “humor” is crass and juvenile, and does not whatsoever reflect the reality that blind people function perfectly capably in society. Chen Guangcheng is an award-winning human rights advocate who happens to be blind, and should not be disparaged with derogatory stereotypes about his disability.
