Adam Littlefield, PKT resident assistant, dies

Adam Littlefield, a student at the New England School of Law and graduate resident assisstant of MIT’s Phi Kappa Theta fraternity, died Sunday morning. 

“Adam Littlefield was an integral member of the Phi Kappa Theta community at MIT,” PKT President Michael J. Holachek ’17 wrote in a statement. “He joined us as our GRA in 2014 and quickly became close to many brothers — whether cooking dinner on Friday nights, DJing at our social events, resolving conflict or just being there to support us. Adam was an incredibly kind and loving person who dedicated himself to our brotherhood. He was not just an advisor and mentor — he was an exceptional friend.”

Littlefield, who was born in Waterville, Maine, was pursuing his lifelong plan of becoming an attorney at law school. He was 27 years old. 

An investigation by the Boston Police into the cause of death is underway. According to 7News Boston, investigators believe there was no foul play.

A spokesperson from the MIT News Office said that members of the Department of Student Life and Mental Health and Counseling “are actively working to support PKT brothers who live in the house, as well as those brothers who live in on-campus housing.”

The spokesperson encouraged all members of the MIT community who feel affected by the death to access MIT student support resources at resources.mit.edu/support.
